I Intend To Boycott The United States Of America

I propose to implement a gradual withdrawal from American politics and culture. There is more than enough for me to focus on in Europe and around the world.

I am a British citizen who is a permanent resident in Spain. I have travelled widely and spent much of my life travelling to the US. I was a frequent visitor to the US because of my involvement with The International Association of Lighting Designers, based in Chicago. When George Bush was elected I considered refusing to travel to the US because I objected to his political views and stance.

How to Find Your Bliss: Joseph Campbell on a Fulfilling Life

In 1985 mythologist and writer Joseph John Campbell sat down with legendary interviewer and idea-monger Bill Moyers for a lengthy conversation.

You have to learn to recognize your own depth.

The conversation continued the following year at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The resulting 24 hours of raw footage were edited down to six one-hour episodes and broadcast on PBS in 1988, shortly after Campbell’s death, in what became one of the most popular series in the history of public television.

What Is The Point Of Creativity In Writing?

On the whole there are only three reasons for writing online: making money, creating a brand, a love of writing/creativity.

I have put my life into this site. I fill my mind with creative ideas and put them online. Why do I do it? What do I get out of it? What is the point of creativity in writing?

Old People Love Sex Too—6 Illusions About Age And Sex

I question the stereotypes of older men having sexual performance issues and older women having physical attraction issues. I look at six illusions about age and sex for men and women.

Old people sex is often seen by people as a contradiction. In response to my column about being a good man, ‘What On Earth Is A Good Man?’, a man made a fascinating comment on Facebook about a friend of his wife.

What On Earth Is A Good Man? (And What Is The Good Men Project All About?)

Being good means going beyond what you feel inside himself into what you feel about the world outside. I explore just what that means.

I write stories about myself that relate to my essence as a man. I draw parallels for other men that might help them to look at the issues they face in a different, more powerful, way. This is a superficial view of the columns I write; on a deeper level I am exploring my world and challenging it.

As A Writer I Had To Find My Writing Voice – To Become A Writer

At the beginning of 2011 I said to myself, "I am now a writer". The easy part was over. I now set about finding my writing voice. I had to understand how to use my experience and learning.

I entered the third third of my life and started my third career. I have previously been a theatre lighting designer and an architectural lighting designer. These are both creative professions, so I thought it would be easy to become a writer.

Sex And Gender – Does It Affect Our Everyday Experience?

Men and Women? Are they the same? Are they different? What is all this disagreement over Sex and Gender?

As a man I spend time thinking and writing about the experience of being a man. I look to understand my own experience and that of many other men. I do this to develop who I am and to provide other men with material that will enable them to develop who they are, to create a situation where men become men.

A critical part of this is understanding what it is to be a man, how men become men. In relation to what, you might ask. It’s important to know what not being a man looks like. Where is it that men are when they seek help from ‘Graham Reid Phoenix’?

This is an essence of the debate on Sex and Gender. What is a man and how is this man created? The point of this article is not to debate this issue but to point out where I am coming from as a writer.

He Is A Rogue … That’s Why He Has The Best Male Blog

Okay, let’s be clear about this, I am a man and I am a blogger. In fact I’ve turned it back on itself — I blog about men! I think I have the best male blog.

Now, some men are rogues. We all know rogues: they are focused, calculating, dedicated, and only want one thing. These are the qualities of a real rogue—and the qualities of a successful blogger.

Look at what Chris Guillebeau, at Art of Non-Conformity, said:

“The reality that I need to work more than I thought has required some sacrifices I did not expect in the beginning, and it took me a while to become comfortable with this.”

Mountain Challenge for Men – Who Needs Them

If I step outside the door at the house in Andalucia, Spain, and look to the right I see a ridge of three peaks. The one on the left is the highest at 888 metres. It's a simple, gentle peak over some rough country. A mountain challenge all the same.

It is not a big deal, but I do love climbing it every three months or so.
