Challenge — Awareness

Men face challenges—to their sense of themselves as men—through people's view of them. Men need to face up to these and come out the other side strong and confident. You succeed by getting to know yourself, accepting who you are and living authentically.

The Opportunity

Men often resist going down this route, resist dealing with the chaos in their lives. They prefer to blunder on using their strength to push their way through life. This was how I was for many years. I dominated others and expected people to listen to what I said and pay attention. I found, increasingly, that people didn't listen or respond, they just carried on with their life and left me behind.

Take this opportunity to look at yourself and your life in the way I looked at mine. Discover who you are.

Prepare yourself for re-awakening. Prepare to find the man inside.

Every human has self awareness and creative imagination. These give us the power to change.

Awareness

The first stage in the journey is Awareness.

To begin you need to know who you are, what you are as a man. What is your personality and what are your core beliefs? How has your upbringing affected you and developed you? What is your work, how are your relationships? What are you passionate about and what affects you deeply? Are you an 'away from' or a 'towards' type of man, what motivates you? How are you around women, what is your sexuality?

You need to be something and you need to be aware of what that is. We are all a combination of what we were born with and what we have made of ourselves. The former is our core and the latter is what we have allowed society to make of us. It is important that we clarify the two and understand ourselves better.
